Spooky Creepy Crazy

So the boys are off hunting and I have the house to myself. What does this mean for me you might wonder. Well I can tell you it was cards as far as the eyes can see and my back can handle, yes that was a pun.

In the spirit of gearing up for fall craft fairs and the holidays I have created several Halloween Cards out of the Spooky Cat Stampin Up set. I mean who can send the same Halloween Cards to her nieces and nephews and still have them feel special?

The great thing about home-made cards is that they are one of a kind even if you make the same style card multiple times it will never be exactly like the others. An angle will be slightly different or the punch is a little off showing more white.

To start for the kiddos I made this super cute two step Z-fold card. For the paper I used the Spooky Cat DSP paper from Stampin Up, Black, Very Vanilla, and Elegant Eggplant Card stock. The witches hat was stamped and then cut out by hand. All in all this card was so fun to make, but I was glad that there was no mass production as all the pieces and layers of stamping is very labor intensive.

Then, in the spirit of using every stamp in my stamp set because who buys a set and only uses one or two stamps? (ME! I totally do that) This card was super cute and easy to just stamp and fill in the gaps on the whisper white card stock. Big bonus on this one was that it took way less time used the same paper minus the DSP because not everyone wants to invest in the Designer Papers. Also, here you can use whatever colors you want for the stamps so no sweat if there is an ink that you don't have. I hate when that happens, then I get super discouraged from making a card.

I mean who doesn't want a card that they can cut all the pieces in one set of commercials, stamps in another set and adhere together in the third. For those who don't know I'm in love with the Hallmark Channel and watching the new holiday movies. Being able to concentrate on cards and watch my show at the same time is very important stuff.

After taking a break and doing a simple card it was time to get creative for my nephew. In the spirit of using similar materials I created this card and used the brick wall embossing folder to give the card some dimension. Something that I often struggle with is having flat cards. When they end up like this you look at them and think that you could have done more.

Sometimes you are in a bind and need to finish a card in a hurry and you end up with this. Sadly that was the story of my life before I took the plunge and invested in my Big Shot. Best investment ever! Not only can you use embossing folders with it but you can use the plates and cut with framelit dies.

Now the next big adventure is to invest in the Heat Tool and Embossing powder. It will be a learning curve but we will all get through it and my cards won't be any worse for wear that I am sure of.

The fourth card used the rest on my Trick or Treat DSP paper minus a few scraps. I then paired it with the Teeny Tiny Wishes set for my teeny niece. So in love with this paper no regrets in getting it! I only wish that you got more than two sheets of each design.

Again this card was so simple all cutting and adhering minus the 'happy halloween' stamp. No fancy equipment required just a sharp blade and double checking your measurements. I kinda played around with mine making the horizontal band a little wider than I normally would so the cat could perch on the ledge. All in all this card is just to cute and not a whole lot of stress that your stamp will smear or the edge will mark. That always happens to me. but I just own it anymore.

My final card for the weekend was literally all scrape paper except the pumpkin pie base. I try to make at least one card in a weekend that uses a majority of my scraps. Otherwise you have all these odds and ends that you have to store like me. Or you are throwing them away when you can get so much more bang for that buck.

This was just a layering affect and no stamping required. Just a blank card that can be used for a fall birthday, halloween, happy fall, thinking of you, and more! Just open and stamp a sentiment or start journaling away.
